Is Windows 10 now launching July 2015? |
Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system will be now launched
earlier than expected, at the end of July 2015 according to AMD CEO Lisa Su.
The date was revealed in a recent conference call, where she
revealed that the company was looking forward to the second half of 2015 after
the release of Windows 10.
Su said that she expected sales to pick up as
companies and individuals were making delayed purchasing decisions, partly down
to ongoing uncertainty surrounding Windows 8.1.
Lisa Su said;
"What we also are factoring in is, you know, with the
Windows 10 launch at the end of July, we are watching sort of the impact of
that on the back-to-school season, and expect that it might have a bit of a
delay to the normal back-to-school season inventory build-up.”
Although the official launch date has not yet been confirmed
by Microsoft, it was previously expected that the release Windows 10 would
coincide with the microprocessors from Intel launch, which should be in August
or September.
Windows 10 will be available as a free download to anyone who
is already running Windows 7 or Windows 8.x.
Windows 10 is hoping to be a move to a more serviceable
model, with Windows running on PCs, smartphones, servers, and other devices
sharing roughly the same code base. The idea is that apps developed on one
version of Windows can be easily run on any other version, aside from any power
requirements that may be necessary.
